The biggest TV shows now on Netflix, Apple, Peacock, and more

It seems streaming fans can't get enough of buzzy new TV shows like Guy Ritchie's gangster movies Gentlemen and FX on Hulu's Shoguna brutal epic about feudal Japan that looks like its spiritual successor game of thrones.

According to new data from streaming search engine Reelgood, these are some of the most popular TV shows right now across all the major streaming services – from Netflix to Max, Apple TV+, Hulu and Peacock. During the seven-day period that ended March 20, the 10 shows that topped Reelgood's latest TV chart were as follows:

1. Gentlemen (Netflix)
2. Shogun (Holo)
3. Apples never fall (peacock)
4. Chase (Apple TV+)
5. Quiet on the Set: The Dark Side of Children's Television (the above)
6. Resident alien (peacock)
7. Air masters (Apple TV+)
8. Signal (Netflix)
9. the system (the above)
10. constellation (Apple TV+)

As for a few notes about this list that immediately came to mind – there are a lot of shows here that are generally great, and I think they're only going to show up this week mainly because of people's curiosity that led them to try the shows. I put the peacock Apples never fall And Apple TVs Chase In this category (the latter is a drama about the hunt for Abraham Lincoln's killer, but I found the book of the same name on which Apple's show is based to be more compelling).

Second, if I had to pick the best TV shows from this list, as someone who covers the streaming space extensively, I would have to agree with the first two — along with perhaps eighth place, the Netflix show. Signal. But I hesitate to recommend this too strongly, because while… Signal Implement Interstellar– A sci-fi style sci-fi story set largely in space, and the payoff at the end felt like a letdown and a sort of disappointing “cheat” (no spoilers, of course). Finally, it obviously doesn't escape my notice that Apple is still relatively small, and has more entries on the top 10 list than Netflix. Can Apple maintain this momentum and take things up a notch this year? we will see.
