ZTE has officially unveiled the Axon 60 Ultra in China, which can make and receive calls and text messages via two-way satellite communications via China's Tiangtong satellite system. The Axon 60 Ultra will be available exclusively to Chinese government and corporate customers, and will not be sold to the average consumer.
The manufacturer also added a multi-antenna switching algorithm to the device, allowing the smartphone to combine mobile and satellite networks for better data transmission, lower latency and more stable connection, even in areas with poor mobile network coverage.
The Axon 60 Ultra also supports 5.5G, China Mobile's new high-speed 5G network, which can enable download speeds of up to 10Gbps and upload speeds of up to 1Gbps. Another interesting feature of the novelty is the dual system architecture, which simultaneously includes user mode and kernel mode. The former allows applications to run with limited access for greater system security, while the latter gives the operating system unrestricted access to all available hardware resources.
Now it's time to cover the traditional features of a smartphone. The ZTE Axon 60 Ultra is equipped with a 6.78-inch OLED display that displays content at a resolution of 1220p+ with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Behind the display is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
On the back of the smartphone is a 50-megapixel primary camera, which also includes optical image stabilization. The other module is a 50MP ultra-wide-angle solution, and an unspecified macro sensor has been added to the Axon 60 Ultra. The front camera takes 32-megapixel photos.
The mobile phone is powered by a 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery that supports 80W wired fast charging. The device meets the IP68 rating of the outer shell which means it is water and dust resistant. The manufacturer has not yet revealed prices or the start of sales, but this should not worry us, because as we wrote above, the smartphone is intended for members of the Chinese government, officials and commercial users.
