Taro Yuko, who we last saw NieR: Automata in the form of a larger game (since then he has been working on smaller mobile projects), formed a self-critical opinion, but at the same time he had some positive thoughts about the PlayStation 5 – exclusive work for Shift Up .
Japan's IGN interviewed Taro and Kim Hyung-tae, director of Stellar Blade. The two developers talked about their own game. Taro praised Kim because he considered himself an admirer of the South Korean developer's work. Since the Magna Carta, Taro believes he has a crush on his colleague. Although Taro is older, he believes Kim is at a higher level than him professionally. He believes that Stellar Blade is such an excellent game that he considers it better than NieR: Automata.
Taro later explained why he thought this way. He feels that Stellar Blade's graphics represent a whole new generation in terms of quality, and told Kim that he's jealous because it shows that the South Korean developer has his own company and works with like-minded people. Despite this, Kim believes that NieR: Automata is the better game, because the more people talk about it, the more he feels Stellar Blade can't compete with it. Although Kim is confident in her skills as an illustrator, when it comes to writing, she says she can't compete with Taro because she doesn't see herself as a storyteller. He's been creating pictures all his life, trying to integrate the lag he collects in narrative with gameplay.
Stellar Blade received its demo on PlayStation 5 on March 29, and the demo is still available for download on the PlayStation Store. Regarding the demo, the developers recently said that we should handle it carefully (because some people have already spent more than 50 hours with it), although it's approx. It was able to feature twice as many players as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Regardless, the game's release is not too far away: it will be released on April 26 on PlayStation 5.
