According to security sources, an airstrike was launched on an Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces base in Kalsu on Friday, MTI reported.

The Popular Mobilization Forces were created as an umbrella organization for various armed groups, including pro-Iranian formations, and were later recognized by Iraqi authorities as an official security force. Certain factions within the Popular Mobilization Forces participated in missile and drone attacks against US forces in Iraq during the first months of the Israeli offensive in Gaza, but the group halted the attacks in early February, according to reports. The United States said that it would not engage in any Israeli response to avoid escalation of the attack, and then the British and American governments announced the imposition of sanctions on Iran because of the attack on Israel.
