The current Mazda6 has been with us since 2012, and there's no doubt that a successor will exist – at least in Europe. Looking at the international level, the Japanese manufacturer has already stopped selling the model in some markets, and the legendary sedan has not received a next generation in these countries either.
Then the EZ-6 model was unveiled in China, which at first glance may seem like a faithful successor, but unfortunately it is not.
Developed in China by Changan Mazda, the EZ-6 is actually a Changan Shenlan SL03 in Mazda clothing, also known as the Deepal SL03, a fully Chinese model for 2022. All of this is also evident in the interior of the EZ-6, where it is nowhere to be found Essentially on Mazda's solution: instead of restrictive tech gadgets, passengers are welcomed on board by a giant central touchscreen.
As an electric car, the EZ-6 features rear-wheel drive, a range of up to 600 km, a multi-link rear suspension, and an ideal 50:50 weight distribution. The model will also be available as a hybrid vehicle in China, in which case the manufacturer promises a magical range of a thousand kilometers. In terms of dimensions, the new car is slightly larger than the current Mazda 6 model, as it is 4.92 meters long, 1.89 meters wide and 1.49 meters high. No official information about international distribution has been announced, but the Chinese rules and measurement results published exclusively according to Chinese standards indicate that we will wait for this car outside the borders of the People’s Republic to no avail.
