Field Hockey Canada is hiring for two summer job positions in Canada this summer
Field Hockey Canada is the national governing body for the sport of field hockey in Canada. From grassroots to high performance, Field Hockey Canada develops and promotes field hockey across the country, placing our national teams in a consistent competitive position on the podium. Field Hockey Canada is looking to hire a pair of Special Events Coordinators this summer to support hosting, management and communications for international and domestic field hockey events.
Position: Special Events Coordinator
Expected duration: end of May and mid-August [8-12 weeks]
The Special Events Coordinator will report to the Events and Engagement Officer and will work closely with the CEO, Director of Communications and local organizers to support the implementation of field hockey events in Canada. The Field Hockey Canada Special Events Coordinator is responsible for supporting successful event management and planning as well as assisting with communications activities for the organization during the summer of 2024.
The Special Events Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Liaise with internal and external partners involved in event planning and implementation on event logistics, volunteer recruitment and training, media development, marketing materials, advertising, communications, etc.
- A particular priority is to support the successful organization and management of the Canadian National Hockey Championships and the Pan American Junior Championships (both held in Vancouver in July/August).
- Planning and supporting online and in-person events including but not limited to, Hall of Fame Celebration, National Coaches Week, Officials Week, National Team Farewell etc…
- Work with FHC communications staff to create event web pages and communications initiatives that correspond to events.
- Work with FHC staff to prepare forms and guides for hosting future in-person events.
- Assist in coordinating guest lists, awards, scheduled meetings and meetings associated with Field Hockey Canada's online events portfolio.
- Respond to public inquiries about events, including assisting with media requests.

Position: Communications and Events Coordinator

The Communications and Events Coordinator will report to the Director of Communications and will lead and support communications, marketing, sponsorship and fundraising initiatives. The Communications and Events Coordinator will collaborate with the Director of Communications, Events and Engagement Officer, and other program leaders as needed with clear priority given to communications, social media, and marketing.
The Communications and Events Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
- Providing general assistance to the Communications Manager in preparing and implementing digital content including articles, videos, images, etc.
- A special priority to support the successful organization and communications support of the Canadian Nationals in Field Hockey and the Pan American Junior Championships (both held in Vancouver in July/August).
- Lead activation, marketing and fundraising initiatives in the field hockey community.
- Create and share Field Hockey Canada content across social media channels, including curating, tracking, managing, scheduling, and analyzing web content.
- Maintaining and managing social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
