Vice President Kashim Shettima left Abuja on Sunday evening for Dallas, USA to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit.
The Summit is hosted by the Corporate Council for Africa.
Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, disclosed this in a statement he signed on Sunday titled “Vice President Shettima Leaves Abuja to Represent President Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit in the United States.”
“The Vice President will join other political and business leaders across Africa, the USA and beyond for the summit that will include high-level dialogues, networking working sessions and plenary sessions, all scheduled at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas,” Nkocha said.
Among the African leaders expected to attend the summit are Presidents Joseph Bukai of Liberia, Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, Joao Lourenco of Angola, Mokwetsi EK Masisi of the Republic of Botswana, Jose Maria Neves of Cabo Verde, and Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho. Magara Nthumeng.
Alongside the summit plenary session, Shettima is expected to speak at the roundtable on investing in African infrastructure with a focus on impact and returns.
He is also scheduled to speak before a high-level panel on agribusiness, with a focus on moving “from food insecurity to thriving agribusiness.”
In addition, the Vice President will speak at a plenary session on Navigating Africa’s Energy Future as well as chair a session dedicated to promoting the “Invest in Nigeria” initiative.
According to the statement, he is also expected to attend other meetings and engagements on the sidelines of the summit.
Shettima is expected to return to the country at the end of his duties in the United States.
