Residents of Dublin and New York can enjoy a spectacle that combines technology and art, as the gateways linking the cities went into operation on Wednesday. The project is led by Lithuanian artist and businessman Benediktas Gilis. Devices with large displays connect two cities, and whoever stands in front of them can conduct video chats with strangers living thousands of kilometers away.

Technically, the project is not a sensation, but its general concept and presentation make the idea interesting. As expected, the opening of the gateway between Dublin and New York attracted a lot of curious people from both sides. In addition to waving to each other and general chatter, there were also scenes like a college student studying in Ireland talking with his mother living in New York through the gateway, or an American girl calling a guy in Dublin over the phone, for example, showed her his phone number through the device.
