A seaport located in Wadi Al-Jarf B.C.E. It may have been built around the year 2600, and therefore also holds the title of the oldest port in the world. It was discovered in 2013 by a joint team from the French Institute of Archaeology in Cairo and the University of Paris-Sorbonne, and research continues in the area to this day.
The discovery of the port provided important information about how maritime operations were organized in the era of the Pharaohs, whether for military or commercial purposes. The archaeological site is located directly on the beach, and the building complex associated with it consists of dozens of warehouses.

The interior of the warehouses was protected from curious visitors by stone blocks several meters high, on which were so-called closing stones – similar to those used to close the tombs of the pharaohs. Not far from them was a huge 60 x 30 building divided into 13 rooms. However, its purpose remains unknown today.
