HMD has once again brought a classic game to life for a re-release. But again, it will be disappointing for those who used the original model. And maybe for others too.
introduction
I'm too old to judge a revived classic phone from 25 years ago on its own. The reason for this is simple: I had the 3210 for a year when it was still great. (Well, the 6210 and 8210 were great, not to mention the 8810, but the 3210 was the best (and most) affordable.) In other words, HMD probably wouldn't be thrilled if people got their hands on the new version for which they got not only demo memories, but Emotional memories of the original device, because although the 3210 was considered a popular phone a quarter of a century ago, like the Galaxy A52s is now, this current version starts more in the category of a disposable second phone. A category that didn't even exist 25 years ago.
There was no 'Digital Detox' logo on the signage by HMD either. With this, the manufacturer is trying to draw attention to the fact that we depend too much on our phones, we press too much, we tap too much aimlessly, almost bored, and we are too stressed to respond to all incoming notifications – and there are a lot of them, not only real important calls and messages, But all types of social media platforms and applications are constantly engaging with the user. This has not been the case for a long time.
Before we talk about the new Nokia 3210, I would like to sprinkle this material with personal experience, because we asked the Mobilmementók team for an original 3210 phone for this time, which was designed in an era when most phones without a SIM card were worthless. Appropriate. So I put my card in its place and the Galaxy Fold went into my bag. And I went to walk the dog. In the first five minutes, I still had a feeling of loss because I didn't know what XY lied about in the current campaign, and what kind of photo my classmate, whom I hadn't seen since high school, was sharing. Honey, I didn't even know that the laser engraving machine was really cheap in the Chinese web store in Himihomi, and I couldn't pollute my brain with TikTok nonsense about some cretin flu. And then it ended. I was just walking. with the dog. There were trees, houses and people around me. I thought about it a lot. I watched what the dog sniffed, what caught his attention, and how he reacted. I knew full well that I wouldn't pull out the 3210 until I heard the famous Nokia ringtone (obviously I'd set it to that), otherwise why bother. I admit it was a good experience. In principle, HMD wants to achieve the same thing with the new 3210 phone. Then what is the use of Facebook?
