BEOL – Science and Faith

The goal of this innovative new initiative is to demonstrate that faith and science complement each other to help us understand the world. This academic year, the Geological Service of SZTFH initiated the traveling educational exhibition, which connects the worlds of Scripture and science through precious metals.

The kids were interested in the rocks.

After Kecskemét, Cegléd, Alsóörs, Mezőtúr, materials for the geological service reached the Reformed Church in Orošaz. In addition to all the minerals lined up in the containers, a short biblical quote helps understand the relationship between minerals and Bible stories.

At the opening of the exhibition, director Lila Fini Painter said that this exhibition represents a special opportunity for students to get closer to the world that God created and to better understand the stories they read in the pages of the Bible.

Orosháza is the last stop on the traveling exhibition.

– Today you can see minerals that help you imagine the world of Bible times. Among these stones we find those mentioned in the Bible, such as the granite of Mount Sinai where Moses received the Ten Commandments, or the smooth pebbles in the story of David and Goliath. It is a special gift for us to have these minerals among us. With their help, we can better understand that Bible stories are not just fairy tales, but real events that happened in real places. Just as metals are fixed and solid, so the Word of God is eternal and unchanging.

Robert Salkay held a dedication and then Dr. Balint Petredi introduced the students to the exhibition materials – from a metallurgical point of view.
