The Museum of the Year Award was established by the Pulszky Association in 1996, and its purpose is to reward museum institutions that have achieved significant results in the past year. An institution that owes its success to strategic developments and achieves a balanced development in all areas of museum activity – from the complex development of its buildings, from the assembly to the processing and dissemination of its collections, to its academic work, public relations, knowledge transfer activities, and the strengthening of its relations with communities – can count on recognition and reaching the pinnacle in One or more domains.

Members of the jury are Dr. Ebola Berishki, Dr. Balazs Meszaros, Dr. Magdolna Vikze, Dr. Istvan Ringer, Bela Cunha, Dr. Zuzanna Hilof, Zoltan Čilowski and Dr. They were Katalin Vij.

It is in the category of “large museums”. Museum of the Year The Hermann Otto Museum received recognition in 2024 for the renovation of the infrastructure, organization and work organization of the Museum, the development of its services, high-quality museum and scientific work and its community programmes. In the “Small Museums” category, Museum of the Year 2024 was awarded to the Sopron Museum for its conceptual renewal in all areas of the museum’s work, for its exemplary internal community development, and for increasing the tourist attraction of the region.

The Kiskun Museum of the Kiskunviljehaza Municipality won the Special Prize of the National Public Collections Association for its renewed exhibitions and especially for its achievements in the use of digital technologies in the exhibitions. The Special Prize of the Hungarian Rural Museums Association was awarded to the Dr. Istvan Jablonkai Collection of Local History for its achievements in promoting and preserving the identity and culture of Solymar, and for increasing the tourist attraction of the region.

The nominee for the 2024 Museum of the Year award was awarded the Parental House and Memorial Museum certificate for its excellent achievements in the care and presentation of the Kiskőrös tradition, the Petőfi cult and the Slovak national heritage, for the renovation of the infrastructure of the Laczkó Dezső Museum and for the content of the modern museum exhibition.
