The aim of the tournament organized in Szeged was to continue the previously started meetings and strengthen international relations, to which the junior football team of PVSK was also invited.
We asked PVSK captain Kazmir Zarazy to recap what happened at the event.
The event was organized on two football fields in Szeged-Kiskundorozsma, under the name Football Meeting of the Small Stadium in the V. Carpathian Basin. Three years ago, a similar tournament was held in Pecs, and two years ago in Donaszerdahely, Slovakia, with other participants.
Now eight teams have participated, Bakska Topolija (Serbian), Erdzentmihalyi (Transylvania), Iszek (Croatian), Szeged, Nyirijehaza, Pekesksaba, Debrecen and BVSK. It was an invitation-only event, so we felt honored to be among the eight teams. Since the National Junior Football Championship in South Transdanubia ended more than 58 years ago two weeks ago, we were happy to participate, as a way of appeasing and, of course, to further strengthen friendly sporting relations.
Special thanks to István Czerpán, President of PVSK, for helping our age group to play sports for years, because regular exercise is very important even at this age. We were able to travel comfortably, as we received a PVSK bus, and the President also contributed to our other expenses. Matches lasting 2 x 12 minutes were played on two courts, in two groups.
The fact that our team was one of the oldest middle-aged teams is that there was a little something wrong with it, while the other teams also had younger players, between 45 and 50 years old, and at this age, even a few years of age difference matters a lot. However, I can say that we played good matches and performed well, beating Debrecen 1We beat them 0-0, lost to Baxka Topolia 1-0 and to Bekissaba 2-1, but we finished fourth in the tournament that included eight teams. By the way, host Sejd won the tournament. Each team received a souvenir card and a football as a gift from the organizers.
As soon as the results were announced in a wonderful atmosphere, over bean stew supported by bacon and cold drinks, everyone expressed their desire for the event to continue, where and when would be the subject of later discussion. -FKazmir Zarazy concluded his report.
