Canadian Grand Prix: Statements from the podium finishers

Max Verstappen, who drove calmly throughout, won the Canadian Grand Prix, second was taken by Lando Norris, who even led by ten seconds in the first half of the race – and then came the safety car. George Russell, who started from the front, finished third after being overtaken twice in the heat. Let's see how the three rated themselves after the gesture!

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) – 1st place

“It was a crazy race! There was a lot of action and we had to make very good decisions. We performed well as a team, stopped in time to change a tire, and although the safety car came out well, we managed our advantage well.” After that, I loved this race! It was very good and there is a need for such competitions. Both McLaren and Mercedes made me sweat at different stages of the race, so I really enjoyed it. There was a small problem with the car, but we know what it is, so we will work on it “The most important thing is that we won, but we can still improve.”

Lando Norris (McLaren) – second place

“Chaos! It was chaos. It was very eventful and I felt like it was a good race from start to finish, and I drove the car well. The first two stages went very well, and unfortunately the safety car didn’t come out very well this time. That helped in Miami, But not now. From my point of view, I completed a perfect race. I was a bit unlucky, but I enjoyed it. The conditions sitting in the car are nerve-racking, but also very enjoyable. In the first stage I was ten or twelve seconds ahead, and I could have Increasing the gap by two or three seconds every lap, but this is Montreal, something always happens here. I enjoyed it. We scored a lot of points, it was a good weekend in Miami, so I can't complain now I had a good race, the car was good too, we are close, we are back on the podium and we keep fighting!”

George Russell (Mercedes) – 3rd place

“I feel it was a missed opportunity… We were very fast in the intermediates, but then Lando set a very good pace. I made a mistake too, and I paid for it. I went a little overboard. But he got his first podium of the year. Fast and we were fighting in the lead and we could have won but this is Formula 1, that's why we love racing in the end, Max was fast, that's a fact, but when we put on the new tires we were also fast, unfortunately, I lost two places, otherwise. “Maybe Max could have had it. The finish was tough, but fair. It was a dry bracket, you had to throw yourself in there. We're looking at the positives of the weekend. We won the title!”
