A quarrel broke out in the lower house of the Italian Parliament on Wednesday. Politico writes. One of the deputies involved was injured so severely that he had to be transported from the scene in a wheelchair.
On Wednesday, the Italian Parliament discussed a draft law granting more autonomy to the country's provinces. The draft law was presented by Roberto Calderoli, Minister of Regional Affairs of the Northern Italian League. According to critics, more provincial autonomy would increase the gap between the rich northern regions and the poor southern regions.
As you can see in the video below, the immediate start of the fight was that the representative of the opposition 5 Star Movement, Leonardo Dono, attempted to pull the Italian flag on Calderoli. But the hall guards prevented him from doing so.
Then representatives of the pro-government League and the Italian Brotherhood party rushed to the scene and started fighting with Dono and the hall guards who tried to separate them. During the fight, Dono fell and the institution's medical staff had to take him out of the room in a wheelchair.
Dono later said someone hit him so hard that he collapsed because he couldn't breathe. The relevant draft law has not yet been voted on, and discussion on it has been postponed.
