Swimming has been banned on two beaches in Montenegro

Bathing is prohibited on two beaches due to poor water quality.

During the summer, seawater quality is checked twice a month, every fifteen days, in a total of more than 100 different places. During the test, the presence of two types of bacteria is examined: Escherichia coli and fecal enterococci.

Seawater quality monitoring was carried out in 114 different places between June 3 and 10, and water quality was found to be excellent at 79.8 percent of beaches.

13.2% of the beaches were good, 5.3% of the samples were satisfactory, and 1.8% were bad. Although the results showed that the water quality was good in most beaches, bathing was prohibited in two places.

Water quality is not sufficient at Igalo 01 and Igalo 02 beaches in Herceg Novi municipality. Red flags on beaches indicate that bathing is prohibited.

In Herceg Novi, a total of 22 places were sampled, and the water quality was excellent in 12 places, good and acceptable in 4 places, and poor in 2 places.

In the Bay of Kotor, in Tivat Municipality, 6 out of 10 sites were of excellent quality, and 4 of them were of good quality. In Kotor, seawater quality is excellent in 10 sites, good in 4 sites, and acceptable in 1 site. It is also good news that the water quality in Budva is excellent in all places, in Bar it is excellent quality in 11 places, good in 3 places and acceptable in 1 place. Judging by all the samples found in Ulcinj, Adria is of excellent quality.
