Developed from the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta concept car introduced six months ago, the X Gran Racer VGT exists only virtually, but its development was managed by the Korean premium brand's motorsport development program Magma.
The X Gran Racer VGT's biggest strength is the active aerodynamics package: electronically movable flaps regulate the airflow around the body, and a completely flat underbody reduces air resistance and improves stability.
In addition, the traditional aerodynamic solutions – the large front apron, the rear diffuser, the wings that divide the front air intakes, the aggressive sill and, of course, the giant rear wing – also help the race car touch the asphalt.
The double light strip of the lighting unit continues to the side and then starts again at the rear, visually enhancing the concept of streamlining.
Radical ergonomics and a realistic and demanding driving environment await you in the passenger compartment. The structural elements also play a decorative role, so we do not encounter any unnecessary mass.
Cushioning is only found where it is really needed. There is no passenger seat, but some cargo can be secured next to the driver – mostly racing gear and a helmet.
The screen is a digital panoramic display that occupies the entire width of the dashboard. All the essential controls are located on the bull's horn-shaped steering wheel.
The powertrain is a high-performance hybrid system: the front-mounted V6 produces 870 hp, and the electric motor driving the front wheels adds another 670 hp; the system's maximum torque is 1,423 Nm.
As before, the Genesis X Gran Racer VGT will also be included in the Gran Turismo console game garage, but Genesis has yet to hint at its actual implementation.
