Toilet-headed monsters ruled the world long before dinosaurs, and a multi-meter-long specimen has turned up near Antarctica.

All living things are beautiful in their own way, but not in the traditional sense in all cases, and a good example of this is the monster that terrorized the Earth 40 million years ago, long before the appearance of dinosaurs – the world's number one predator that had a head shaped like a toilet

It lived mainly in swampy areas 300 million years ago and, according to scientists, it constantly walked around with its mouth open so it could more easily pounce on its unsuspecting victim.

The beast was much larger than a modern human, and lived mostly in swamps or lakes, said Dr. Jason Pardo, a researcher at Field University in Chicago and co-author of the latest study on Gaia genii. Dr. Pardo was the first to use the perfect metaphor for the animal:

“It spent its time at the bottom of swamps or lakes. It had a large, flat, toilet-shaped head that allowed it to inhale its victim as soon as it opened its mouth. It had huge fangs, and the front of its mouth was practically made up of giant teeth alone. It was a huge predator, but it doesn’t seem to have been quick to kill its victims.”

Claudia Marsicano, a professor at the University of Buenos Aires and another co-author of the study, was part of the team that found the predator’s fossil in what is now Namibia. They found the remains in a relatively open field, which shocked them, the professor said, because when they saw them, they already knew this animal was something else.

“We had great material, we found a complete skull, and we were able to use it to compare it to other animals of the time, and thanks to it we were able to determine that we were dealing with a really special piece.”

Dr. Pardo explained, who said that although at present, Namibia Geographically, it belongs to southeast Africa, but 300 million years ago it was located in a completely different place – in the far north of Antarctica. During this period, the Earth was at the end of the Ice Age, which is important, according to the professor, because the Antarctic region was more swampy.

According to Dr. Pardo, Jayasia belongs to an early group of tetrapods, a group of vertebrates that later evolved into mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. The researcher also added that the ancient nature of the beast is very surprising, because its known relatives had already died out about 40 million years before it was found:

“There were other similar ancient animals that existed 300 million years ago, but they were much rarer, smaller, and lost in their own world. Gaiacia was huge, relatively abundant, and a predator in its own ecosystem.”
