In the future, you can create a custom radio station using a simple text command.
YouTube created its own music platform, YouTube Music, in response to and in the style of Spotify. Although the interface started out somewhat backward and rigid, it has recently been trying to please users who choose it with more and more little things.
A few months ago, the painful lack of downloading capabilities in the desktop app was replaced, and then a Shazam-like melody recognition function was also included in the offer. Now Google is trying to gain new users with a new feature, and please existing ones, which is not surprisingly related to artificial intelligence.
They are testing a generative function that will create a personalized radio station for us in seconds with the help of simple text instructions (prompt). Once the new feature is rolled out to the public, it will be indicated by a button called “Request music the way you want it” on your homepage.
This will open a chat-based user interface with a box at the bottom that says “Request Music.” Here, the interface will also accept voice requests. The app draws the user’s attention to the fact that the feature is experimental and that we may encounter surprises while using it. Google asks everyone to refrain from giving out personal information.
YouTube Music also offers suggestions if someone can’t express what they need. That way, with just a click, you can pick out a deafening pop chorus, an epic soundtrack, or a fierce pop anthem. If you don’t have a specific idea, or you want something really surprising, it’s worth trying the “surprise me” function.
The radio station created in this way can be found in the “Made for you” section with a description of its content. So far, not much feedback has been received about the new function, so it is not known how extensive the test will be, as well as whether it will be part of the version available to everyone, or just a privilege for Premium subscribers.
