a BFM TV channel Her cameras recorded Odea Castera briefly swimming in the Seine, between the Alexandre III and the Invalides bridge.
The cleanliness of the Seine River has long been a topic of debate in France. The river's waters have often been polluted by various industrial and domestic waste. However, significant efforts have been made in recent years to improve the situation. The municipality and local authorities have launched a number of environmental protection projects that aim not only to improve the quality of the water, but also to make it sustainable in the long term, according to Reuters.
Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, has also focused a lot on cleaning up the often polluted river.
A few weeks ago, there was a minor scandal, because according to the water management's measurements, the proportion of E. Coli bacteria in human feces was four times the permissible value in the water. For this reason, many people made fun of the organizers, and even invited President Emmanuel Macron to swim in the fecal water. Since then, according to the authorities, the water quality has improved significantly, but they will decide to hold the competitions at a later date.
The Paris 2024 Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, and among other things, triathlon and marathon swimming competitions will be held in the Seine.
