European game sales remained strong in the first half of 2024 despite fewer AAA titles being released than last year, according to Game Sales Data, which sold just under 80 million games for PC and consoles.
This issue This represents a decrease of only 1.6 percent in the number of units sold. This is worth noting, as the first half of 2023 saw the launch of major titles such as Hogwarts Legacy, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo IV, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
By comparison, only two new games made it into the top 10 best-selling games in 2024: Helldivers 2 (at #2) and The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered (at #10). It's important to note that Nintendo's digital sales are missing from the data series, and data for Palworld, one of the year's biggest hits, is also missing.
