Cheapest Electric Car That Has Been Broken – Test Drive Dacia Spring EV (2024)

The Dacia electric car has had a busy life, it was launched in 2021, then in 2022, due to the change of brand image, its appearance was improved, in 2023 it got a more powerful engine, and in 2024, a change of body is on the agenda. Inside and out, the appearance has been adapted to the current image, the driver support systems required by the European Union are also on board, and a 65 hp engine is already available with the middle equipment.

Basically, the old body frame is easily recognizable from the profile, but the front and rear of the car have been completely renovated Photo: Dacia

1. Get along with others
Since its launch, the Duster has been the brand's flagship model, so it should come as no surprise that the look of the Spring electric car, which is also very popular in its class, has now been adapted to this, specifically with the third generation, which debuts with a more angular appearance.

They got rid of the drawn code lines for the Renault image.

A black stripe runs across the body front and rear, large plastic inserts protect the door panel from damage, and on the top Extreme model, map detailing is applied to the bumper – the contrasting graphics can hide minor scratches while parking.

On the left is the small spring, on the right is the built-in ashtray. The family relationship is clear to see.

2. It is more spacious inside.
The boot volume has been increased by 6% with the modification of the tailgate, and the luggage space can now reach 308-1004 litres. The charging cable is placed in the container under the bonnet, and does not steal precious litres of your travel belongings. The space in the first row has become more spacious, at least at the edge, after the first window regulator switches were moved from the door to the centre console, and at the same time, the intrusion of a few centimetres of door trim has been eliminated. This makes it even easier for the driver as it now offers a steering wheel that can be adjusted in height – within a few centimetres only.

The door upholstery is slimmer, and the white trim is reflected on the windshield.

3. Something for something
The manufacturers felt that the 65-hp version with the top-drive motor required more than the base 45-hp model, so in addition to the retuned electric power steering, they also added 15-inch tires to improve handling. They don't advertise them anymore, you can just feel them when you drive over bumps in the road.

This design rocks a little more, as the frame is less bulging.

Of course, compared to a regular car, the carrying capacity is still large, but when driving on a dirt road – it is not worth venturing into difficult terrain – the weaker spring wins in terms of comfort.
