2024 is off to a strong start, at least when it comes to big-screen consumer electronics. At the year’s most important tech show, CES, both LG and Samsung showed off their own transparent TVs, drawing attention to themselves.
Since then, the talk about technology may have become a little less, but the developments have not stopped regardless. And this is what Korean researchers have proven very well. Produce 100 inch transparent screen so that
The new display contains uniformly distributed titanium dioxide nanoparticles with a diameter of 100 nanometers, which is equivalent to the thickness/thinness of a human hair. A high-performance projector inside the system projects it so well that the display has a viewing angle of 170 degrees – that is, 340 degrees, so that events can be observed from both sides.
Transparency can also be controlled: the system also includes a liquid-based film layer that can be made completely transparent or semi-opaque with the help of electrical pulses. In the latter case we get the result as if we were looking at a bottle of milk.
All this is therefore cheaper, but above all, it is also practical. It has been tested in cold, hot and extreme weather conditions. Due to its durability, it can be used as a display in public places, but it cannot be ruled out that the technology will one day move to homes as well.
