I can't believe this place really exists – this desert looks like a dream – The Balcony

Nature is a great artist, and even the most talented people cannot surpass her amazing creations. A stunning proof of this is one of the strange formations in Namibia, Deadvlei, which means dead swamp. The term roughly describes the type of area it is: a long-dry lake bed, once a swampy lake lined with trees that have been dry for nearly a thousand years.

The stunning atmosphere is like a carefully edited painting or postcard. The red dunes, white clay soil, trees turning black and the perfect blue sky form such a combination that at first glance one would hardly believe that they are seeing a real location.
No wonder the exotic desert inspires photographers too.

Strange desert panorama pictures

Centuries ago, Deadvlei was a wet, swampy area that was home to thorny camel trees, but the climate changed and drought struck the area. Sand also entered the area, blocking the path of the river that fed the lake, and it and its plants soon dried up. But how have the trees not rotted since then? Look at the pictures, you can get the answer to that too.

A strange natural phenomenon covered the desert landscape in white: a strange scene

The White Desert looks like it is covered with fresh snow all year round.
