The 39-year-old doctor, who German police suspect of killing four of his patients in recent months, dealt with the murders, including those of patients and unsolved cases, in his doctoral thesis. RBB24 portal writes.

Before his arrest, the man, who worked as a member of a so-called palliative care medical group that deals with terminally ill patients, was suspected of having first wanted to kill an 87-year-old woman and then set fire to her apartment. After the firefighters arrived, they managed to save the woman who had to be resuscitated, but she later died in hospital. Her three neighbors were also injured in the fire.

In early July, a frighteningly similar incident occurred in the home of a 76-year-old victim, who the doctor also tried to set on fire, but the fire went out. He is also suspected of killing a 94-year-old patient in his apartment in mid-July, then setting fire to the kitchen. Finally, this doctor is also a suspect in the case in which he may have killed a 74-year-old patient at the end of July, then also setting fire to his home.

According to Sebastian Büchner, the spokesman for the public prosecutor, the man's motives are still unknown, his actions have not been proven and the methods of killing are being investigated. Büchner added that there is also the possibility that the doctor killed them at the request of the victims, but in this case it would be a special circumstance that the doctor, who has not yet testified, tried to set fire to the homes of the four of them.
