McLaren driver Lando Norris was fastest in the first free practice session for the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix on Friday.

Ferrari's Spanish driver Carlos Sainz Jr. finished the practice session on the drying track in second place, while Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc, the other Ferrari driver, was third.

Before practice, heavy rain fell on the track, so for the first 23 minutes of practice, no cars were on the track, although it was not possible for this to happen, as track workers were cleaning the water from the asphalt until then. However, the competitors who came out of the pits were unable to complete the lap for ten minutes, as Su Kuan Yew (Sauber) crashed his race car into the wall, so the practice session was stopped by a red flag for a few minutes. minutes.
