According to the document, “the best possible conditions must be created for holding a second peace summit with the participation of all parties, including Russia and relevant global actors.”
Tajani and Cassis called on the relevant international parties to make every effort to create a common basis for negotiations. Everything must be done with respect for international law and the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty enshrined in the UN Charter.
They also stressed that peace can only be achieved with the participation of all relevant actors and through dialogue.
Among other things, Russia is demanding the annexation of more than a fifth of Ukrainian territory and a declaration of Ukrainian neutrality, under which Kiev would abandon its aspirations to join NATO, also enshrined in its constitution, in 2019.
In June, in the absence of Russia, but with the participation of about a hundred countries and organizations, the first Ukrainian peace summit was held in the Swiss town of Bürgenstock. Moscow then described the meeting as impossible without him. Moreover, he ruled out participating in another peace summit, according to the Foreign Ministry in Moscow, because only the ideas of the Kiev leadership would be discussed there.
