Introduction in several steps

According to the information, the commitment to activate ETA will come into effect in several stages for citizens of the countries concerned.

From 15 November 2023, Qatari nationals will need an expected travel permit to travel to the UK, and will be able to apply for permits from 25 October.

As of February 22, 2024, citizens of the following countries will be required to submit an ETA:

  • Bahrain
  • Jordan
  • Kuwait
  • Oman
  • Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates

According to the briefing, additional countries will be included in the scope of the ETA agreement at a later date, and according to the most likely scenario, the commitment will be extended to EU countries – including Hungary – starting in the latter part of next year. The exact date is not yet known.
