The GT One was built in a British factory to commemorate one of the most extreme Porsche 911s ever made, the 911 GT1 from the 1990s.
In 1993, when the FIA announced the GT1 class for racing cars starting at Le Mans, a legendary era in motorsport history began. Among more than a dozen manufacturers, Porsche also entered this category of machines, and the 911 GT1 took only the headlights and taillights from the street model.
In contrast, the 911 GT1 was not rear-engined, but mid-engined, and its 3.2-litre six-cylinder boxer engine produced 600 hp, enabling it to reach speeds of 330 km/h on the famous Mulsanne track at Le Mans.
In 1996, they only reached the podium, but in 1998 they had already won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice.
Twenty-five road models had to be produced for homologation, and Porsche started with two prototypes that still had the round headlights of the 993, then twenty 911 GT1 Straßenversions that actually looked like the 996 available at the time. His bike was scaled down for street use, but still
Its power was 536 hp, which allowed it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 308 km/h.
Even with its name, the GT One evokes the legendary 911 GT1, this stunningly shaped super sports car,
Presented by Tuthill. The last time we heard from the British workshop was when they made a 911 that was lightened to 850kg, and now they’ve set the bar even higher. Like its famous predecessor, the GT One will also be road-legal.
It's not based on an existing Porsche, because unlike the 911, the GT One also has a mid-engine layout.
The 4.0-liter, six-cylinder engine behind the seats produces 500 horsepower, but it will also be available with two turbochargers and 600 horsepower.
We don't know how it will go yet, but we can imagine from the fact that the GT One, made of carbon fiber and slowed by carbon ceramic brakes, weighs just 1,200 kilograms, lighter than a Boxster, but as powerful as a 911 Turbo.
It won't be any more popular than the original 911 GT1, with just 22 examples being built.
