2K's Take-Two has been out the door during a major update, an element that many people didn't like, and the new episode will likely follow that path in the future.
There's also the inconvenience of computers. Almost every publisher has its own launcher, and you'll have to use it more than once to start a specific game, but in a short time there can be up to six shortcuts on your desktop. And 2K has one too. That's what Civilization 6 needs. It's quite inconvenient when you start a game on Steam, and then have to start another launcher. Well, “civhatos” skipped that step.
Firaxis confirmed that the update, which was published on August 14, frees Civilization 6 from the need for a publisher-imposed launcher. The change is currently only valid for Steam users, and a Firaxis spokesperson confirmed that this convenient move will be implemented on the Epic Games Store as well, but in the case of the 4X strategy game, you'll have to wait a little longer on Tim Sweeney's interface in any case.
2K Launcher has been removed from Civ 6 and will not be applied to Civ 7.

Firaxis added that Civilization 7 won't suffer from this issue either, citing player feedback as justification. Of course, this doesn't mean that all of the studio's games will ditch the 2K Launcher (for example, if a new XCOM is being developed, it will likely stay there), but for their older games, they are considering removing it. XCOM 2, Marvel's Midnight Suns, and Civilization 5 could soon be rid of this uncomfortable burden off your neck.
In 2022, it annoyed gamers even more when they stuffed the 2K Launcher into games that didn’t originally have it. The three BioShocks were the same way back then. In the case of Civilization 6, it was how you could choose between DirectX 11 and DX12 versions (the former can also be played on Windows 7, the latter can’t).
On the other hand, it can never be seen!
