Hungarian man accused of smuggling US military equipment to Russia

A Hungarian national has been arrested in San Francisco on suspicion of illegally exporting 200 U.S. military radios to Russian government users in collusion with others, the U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C., told reporters. office. Pence H., 46, is charged with conspiracy to violate the U.S. Export Control Reform Act of 2018 (“ECRA”).

News report telex According to the indictment, the man and his associates ran a multinational procurement network that signed direct contracts with various Russian government agencies and worked on large-scale projects, for example, building wireless communications systems operating in Kursk and along the Russian-Ukrainian border. According to the indictment, the man purchased and sold devices to Russian government end users through a network of subsidiaries located in Spain, Serbia, Hungary, Latvia and elsewhere.

The man was arrested on Aug. 23 when he arrived at San Francisco International Airport. The arrest and charges were announced Monday by U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves, along with Assistant Attorney General for Homeland Security and several special agents.

The man faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million for violating ECRA.
