If the leaked date is correct (and the source is pretty reliable), we can see what PlayStation has planned for this month.
09/13/2024 – So far, a reliable and proven PlayStation insider has leaked the date for the next State of Play event, which is said to take place in September, ahead of the Tokyo Game Show. In recent weeks, multiple reliable sources have reported that Sony will not only unveil the PS5 Pro this month, but will also hold a new presentation. Now that the PS5 Pro has been revealed, fans’ attention naturally turns to September’s State of Play.
Although Sony has not officially announced its plans, a potential date could be on the calendar.
At Game Mess Mornings yesterday, journalist Jeff Grubb, who is always well-informed about PlayStation, stated that the long-awaited State of Play event will take place “in about 12 days.” He didn’t mention a specific date – Sony’s plans are subject to change – but if his predictions are correct, the broadcast could be on Tuesday, September 24, exactly two weeks after the PS5 Pro launches. The event would therefore take place before Tokyo Game Show 2024 (where PlayStation will also be represented, of course).
State of play is almost certainly coming soon.
“I’ve said before that State of Play will be coming later this month. It’s likely to be in about 12 days, so we can expect State of Play in about 12 days, not [PlayStation] GameSpot explained, On his YouTube channel In Grubb’s post. Let’s add: Based on previous years’ experience, all signs point to Sony definitely keeping State of Play in September. Even if the date Grubb referenced isn’t exactly accurate, PlayStation has held an event — either State of Play or Showcase — every September for five years now. At this point, we have no reason to assume that they’ll do it any differently this year and skip the traditional event.
