Is Like A Dragon turning into piracy?

SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's series is rumored to be taking an interesting turn in the near future, and we may hear about it as early as Tokyo Game Show…

On the ResetEra forum, a user named lolilolailo, who has previously leaked SEGA games multiple times, wrote that the next installment in the Like A Dragon series, formerly known as Yakuza, will be pirate-related in some way. A Chinese forum, A9VG, believes it’s Ninja Gaiden (which isn’t a SEGA IP, but Koei Tecmo’s), but they could be wrong. The leaks from there are PlayStation-only, but since the series has recently gone multiplatform, it’s possible that the pirate-themed Like A Dragon episode will eventually appear on both Xbox and PC.

However, what's interesting is that according to A9VG, it doesn't mean that you won't have to wait long for the announcement, but also for the release, because they believe that the as-yet-unknown Like A Dragon episode (which will definitely be in the game's title) will actually appear in February! From this we conclude that this could be a spin-off of Like A Dragon. After all, there was a recent fallout (Like A Dragon Gaiden: A Man Who Erased His Name) and it was a spin-off of Yakuza (7): Like A Dragon, so if there really is a pirate-themed episode, it's Like A Dragon: Infinite Fortune, or Yakuza 8 would be a spin-off.

If SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are really working on something like this, the two companies could follow a logical timeline. The first announcement will come during Tokyo Game Show, so the veil could fall on the game in the fall, then it could appear in February, and then we'll guess which platforms it will be targeting (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One).

But it's not official yet!
