Dedication to Science was awarded at the University of Debrecen.

The Board of Trustees of the Gróf Tisza István Debrecen University Foundation, which runs the university, and the Foundation's management presented the Distinguished Publication Award and Doctoral Scholarship to forty-three specialists who have done exemplary scientific work. Through these awards, GTIDEA, in addition to providing a career model for future scientists, encourages researchers to publish.

The recognitions encouraging academic careers were established in 2023 by the Count Tessa István Foundation of the University of Debrecen; the Publication Prize and the Doctoral Scholarship for Excellence were awarded for the second time to the deserving recipients.

Forty-three scientific specialists were awarded, who contributed with their work to increasing the scientific reputation of the University of Debrecen, as well as achieving international success in research topics that can be considered unique in a particular field.

Twenty-five people received the Publication Award, eighteen received the Doctoral Scholarship for Excellence, and over two hundred applications for the awards were received. George KosaIn his speech at the award ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Debrecen Foundation, Grove Tessa István, stressed that the awards serve to recognize exceptional talents, and that the achievements of the awardees simultaneously embody the three pillars of the University of Debrecen creed: hard work, dedication and the desire for continuous development.

– Financial and moral support at various levels of scientific life provides the opportunity for deserved recognition and social fame for hard work. This intellectual treasury contributes to the development of local and international sciences. The invested work is exemplary and inspiring to all of us, and the commitment and professional excellence of the awardees can give additional impetus to the development of the university so that the institution remains a local and international base for innovation. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees stressed that the goal is to ensure that the university is provided with researchers, develop scientific capabilities, and create financial security, so that the basis of sustainability helps researchers obtain certificates and continue their academic career.

Laszlo CernokAt the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Debrecen stressed that the recognition of an institution depends primarily on the quality of its teachers and students.

– In the local context, personal interaction is taken for granted, but from an international perspective, the scientific activities of lecturers and students are the most reliable, as well as how they appear in publications and patents. With great respect, I thank the awardees for enhancing the international recognition of the University of Debrecen, and for providing an internationally prestigious result that the university and the scholarship holders themselves can be proud of. The Board of Trustees and the University Administration are committed to ensuring that the scientific activity of the institution remains stable at the international level and moving forward, said the Vice-Rector.

Chairman of the Scientific and Social Advisory Board of the István Gróf Tisza Foundation of the University of Debrecen, Peter the Great He also addressed the awardees. He talked about how the scholarship program rewards the work of the best scientists and future talents, as well as recognizes the activities of the most exemplary professors.

– Both awards are very prestigious. The doctoral students have produced high-quality work and have already proven themselves in the scientific arena such as Pro Scientia and TDK, and at international conferences where appropriate. The Publication Award also welcomes applications with a professional background, and after the faculty members have been rated, the experts of the Scientific and Social Advisory Board have proposed the best projects, and the winners have been selected from among them. The award aims to support the scientific endeavors of the younger generation and current researchers for the future of the university. The President of TTTT added: We want to support doctoral students by starting their master's courses in the current academic year, and the winners of the Publication Award will be able to present themselves in the Journal Club.

Applicants for the István Gróf Tisza Foundation Excellence Doctoral Scholarship of the University of Debrecen are those who participate in the full-time State Scholarship Doctoral Programme at the University of Debrecen and who are not yet 30 years old, who have performed outstandingly in the first two semesters of the doctoral programme and who face a complex examination.

The Publication Award of the Gróf Tisza István Foundation of the University of Debrecen can be awarded to a lecturer or researcher from the University of Debrecen who has published the results of research work at the Foundation or other scientific works of national importance in an international journal with a high academic rating.

Winners of the Distinguished Doctoral Scholarship will have their stipend doubled, and winners of the Publication Prize will receive a total support of HUF 1,500,000 after publication.
