The SaGa series, which began as a Final Fantasy spinoff on handheld consoles, may be less well-known, but it’s still a more hardcore JRPG. As a spinoff of the spinoff, Romancing SaGa has amassed a serious fanbase over the decades, even if the series itself hasn’t been heard of recently.
Square Enix has now revived Romancing SaGa 2, which was originally the fifth installment in the series and was released in 1993. The new version is a full 3D remake, but the story and world will be familiar to those who played the original. According to the unusual core lineup, our opponents will be seven legendary heroes who, despite their merits, were banished to another dimension due to their power. The heroes have indeed returned, but as distorted versions of themselves, thirsting for revenge.
Whether you’re a returning player or a fan of the franchise, the just-released demo could be a great opportunity to invest in Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, which will be released on October 25 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. Of course, we’ll be able to transfer our saves to the full game as well.
