Kamala Harris accepted CNN's invitation Saturday, and the Democratic presidential nominee wants to have another live televised debate with Donald Trump on Oct. 23. Harris Written on XWho hopes Trump will join him.
But for now, it doesn’t look like there will be another presidential debate. At a campaign event on Saturday, Trump said it would be too late to have another debate a few days before the election.
A According to an article by the BBC Harris' campaign manager, Jen O'Malley Dillon, responded that Americans “deserve another chance” and called it unprecedented in modern U.S. history that there would only be one presidential debate between candidates.
Trump's position is not new, as Trump announced during the previous debate in September that he would not stand with Kamala Harris again. “Kamala should focus on what she should have been doing for the past nearly four years. There will be no third debate!” the then-GOP presidential candidate wrote.
In June, Trump debated incumbent President Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee at the time. By most accounts, Trump emerged victorious from the debate, as Biden repeatedly confused what he wanted to say and forgot what he wanted to say. As a result of the controversy, Biden has since dropped out of the presidential race and handed it to Kamala Harris. The debate between Harris and Trump was won by the Democratic nominee, by most accounts, and by a fair number of voters.
