Like a Dragon: Yakuza Pirate in Hawaii: Here's the game trailer and everything we know about gameplay! [VIDEO]

Finally, Goro Majima takes the reins for the adventure Like a Dragon, coming to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Fans of the Yakuza series have been asking for it for years, and SEGA and the Ryu Ga Gotoku studio have finally delivered! Goro Majima is now getting his own video game, and the lucky few have had the chance to watch nearly an hour of pure gameplay of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and discover everything this crazy new action game has to offer, which is scheduled for release on February 28 On PC, Xbox and PlayStation.

Taking the gorgeous Hawaiian setting of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, but abandoning the turn-based RPG in favor of real-time action, the new adventure in the Yakuza series allows us to explore the landscape vertically, accessing it in a way that can't be accessed any other way. regions. The grappling hook used in combat can also be used, allowing us to grab it and throw ourselves at the enemy at full speed.

There is no shortage of other crazy Yakuza-like games, for example, we will have our own pirate ship!

Speaking of combat, the Yakuza series has always relied on alternating techniques to make fights more dynamic and attention-grabbing. In this episode, “Sea Dog” style will be the focus. Mainly, because Goro Majima will literally transform into a pirate with two swords, increasing the range of his attacks. The other style, “Mad Dog”, is smarter and faster due to the use of daggers.

Just as there was a Gaiden episode last year, the Like a Dragon series will also be getting one next year, although we first heard about this game back in May!Just as there was a Gaiden episode last year, the Like a Dragon series will also be getting an episode next year, although we first heard about this game back in May!

Hacking like a dragon

In addition to the streets seen in Infinite Wealth, the new chapter of RGG Studio's series adds a new pirate-themed area: Madlantis. An enclave that looks almost like a pirate theme park, but seems to be inhabited by hustlers of all kinds. It looks like it will have its own mini-games, even an amphitheater, and different factions and their power struggles. So it looks like this ship graveyard will play an important role in the new Like a Dragon story.

Since it's a pirate game starring a charismatic character like Majima, the game won't lack for other Yakuza-esque shenanigans, like the aforementioned custom pirate ship. We've seen that there's going up, with combat on ships, but… but what about sailing? It remains a mystery at the moment, but it seems clear that we will be able to freely explore the sea, even participate in naval battles, and upgrade our ship to increase our chances against stronger opponents.

True to the spirit of the series, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will also bring a number of mini-games to the table. Among them are some recent and well-loved games, such as the mini-kart racing that originated in the excellent Yakuza Like a Dragon, which saw the series move into the turn-based JRPG genre. In short, this new Yakuza game has all the ingredients needed to once again enjoy a hackneyed adventure game like the best title in the series, but it's also devoid of serious moral dilemmas. We'll just have to wait until February 2025 to once again indulge in gangsters – I mean, er… gangsters? Am I messing around?! – In his world…
