The 8 most beautiful landscapes in Somogyi Province

5. Keşegi Gazebo, Balatonlil: view and relaxation

Balatonlelle Kishegye got a new viewing terrace in 2021, a 20 square meter wooden structure that offers a magnificent view of Lake Balaton and the witnessing mountains on the other side. In addition to the terrace, there is also a playground, lounge chairs and fire pits, making it an excellent place for a family picnic or friends gathering. The interesting thing about the observatory is that the surrounding vineyards have a historical history, and local wine tasting can also be part of the program.

6. Xanthos Janos Gombkilato, Balatonboglar: a lookout point inspired by the nuclear core

Gömbkilátó in Balatonboglár is not only located on the shore of the lake, but is also one of the most popular attractions in the area. The steel ball was designed by János Szantos, who was inspired by the modernist buildings of the 1958 World Fair. Many people mistakenly believe that Gömbkilátó was built for the World Fair, even though it was built in 1963 and moved to its current location in 1966. The observatory has a 360 degree view.

7. Cebus Mountain Observatory, Fonyod: In the lap of nature

One of the most popular attractions in Fonyód is the Mount Sipos lookout point, which was built in 1987. From here you can see the entire Lake Balaton, especially in clear weather. The forest trail leading to the lookout also hides a gymnasium, making it an ideal location for active hikers. The special feature of the building is that you can discover the beauty of nature as part of a mini tour in the forest.

8. Walco Observatory, Fonyod: Hidden Treasure

One of Fonyód's lesser-known, but very special, lookouts is Walko Lookout Point, built in 1926. Built on the edge of a loess hill, the colonnaded building offers a unique view of Lake Balaton and the mountains in the distance. The interesting thing is that the watchtower has been completely renovated, but it has retained its original shape, bringing together the past and the present. Walking around the observation deck, you can also visit Villa Krypta, which is also an interesting historical site.
