One of Dreamhaven's development teams, recruited from former Blizzard players, Secret Door created an unusual game. Sunderfolk brings the RPG and board game experience to the living room in video game form.
Dreamhaven, made up of former Blizzard developers, is attacking on two fronts, and one of their teams, Secret Door, revealed its next creation today. Sunderfolk is nothing but a digital board game that will combine the experience of tabletop role-playing games and turn-based tactical video games in front of your living room TV. All this through quick learning, easy-to-understand rules, and without any particular technical restrictions. The title for fun with family members or friends can be controlled simply using our mobile phones, after reading a simple QR code.
This way, we can choose from pre-designed game animals, which represent different classes and cooperate during adventures. With the help of the deck building mechanic, we will be able to customize our abilities and use them to become effective on the battlefield.
Although Sunderfolk is designed to be rewatched multiple times, the plot will be strongly narrative-oriented, meaning we won't be left without a main story and relevant decisions. Our main goal will be to rebuild the animal-filled city of Arden, which is besieged by dark forces, with the help of our allies. Among our tasks, here we can develop our characters, buy new equipment, and it will be useful to make friends with the townspeople, because who knows what secrets, quests and rewards can become available in this way!
Sunderfolk doesn't have a specific release date yet, but it's expected to arrive sometime in 2025 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
