The Hungarian art scene immediately became active and almost the entire country was affected when it was revealed that Katja Tombos was seriously ill. Jászai Award-winning actress Mari has been diagnosed with a severe and rare form of cancer that can only be cured with very expensive treatment. In just a few days, a huge coalition has come together for the artist's recovery, for which a celebratory evening has also been organised. Funds were raised for treatment, but unfortunately, Katia Tombos died on May 31, at the age of 41.
The actress left a void that could not be filled in the Hungarian artistic community, however, the funds raised were used for a valuable and uplifting purpose by her family members and close friends, who created a foundation that would preserve the memory of Katja Tombos, writes Pepper.
“Katya wanted to share the unimaginable love and support given to her with other people suffering from a similar serious illness.
When the Foundation was created, we decided that the primary goal of the Foundation should be to fulfill Katia's philanthropic dreams. Additionally, with a heavy heart, we add concern for Katya’s memory as an important mission,” the Foundation’s Board of Trustees announced on Facebook.
Although the funds raised by the Julie Fabian Foundation can no longer help Katie Tombos, the Junior Prima Award-winning actress was also willing to pay for the treatment of fellow musicians and actors suffering from a similar illness. This was not an easy task to achieve, because unfortunately he could not officially dispose of the amount offered, however, from now on, his wish could be fulfilled with the help of the foundation that bears his name.
