Grammy Award: TV viewership has slipped the awards ceremony

Compared to a year ago, they were 53 percent less interested in handing out the American Recording Academy Awards on Sunday.

In 2020, 18.7 million viewers watched the Music Awards, which was actually down from 19.9 million viewers in 2019.

But this year, viewers have plunged into unprecedented depths.

According to a Nielsen survey, 8.8 million people sat in front of a screen because of a Grammy. Trevor Noah hosted the 63rd Grammys, with artists including Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, BTS, Billie Eilish, Post Malone and Megan The Stallion. The music awards ceremony ended in 2016, when 17 million viewers were interested in the show. However, Variety.com noted that the concert program was the most-watched program that night, with the number of people who watched the awards on live broadcasts by 83 percent compared to last year, in addition to television. Social media has also been a major topic, with 77 billion posts added. The stars of the show arrived from five venues and showed pre-recorded music videos. From four places, the actors greeted the audience, and in the fifth place an award ceremony was held. The Grammy Awards were originally announced on January 31, but due to the pandemic, the Recording Academy decided to postpone them and no audience was invited to the event.

This year’s award ceremony is clearly dominated by women.

Women took the first four awards: Taylor Swift became Album of the Year, Megan Thai Stallion won the Best New Artist category, Billie Eilish won Record of the Year, and HER won Song of the Year. Most of the four Grammy Awards were collected by Beyoncé, who already became the record holder among female performers, with a total of 28 Grammy Awards.
