Joe Biden announced a $106 billion aid package, through which huge sums will be disbursed to Israel and Ukraine at the same time.
However, the issue of Ukrainian subsidies has long divided US political circles, and Republicans are increasingly hostile to the payments to Kiev.
Not only Ukraine, but also Israel, the Indo-Pacific region and border protection will benefit from this huge package. However, according to Mike Johnson, the package must be selected separately, and he particularly highlighted the Ukrainian quantities in a statement:
We want to know what the ultimate goal is in Ukraine. The White House did not say so.
The Democratic president previously predicted that if he combined Kiev’s support with Israeli and border defense funds, Republicans would support his efforts as well. The issues mentioned are also among the heart issues of the American opposition party. This question is of particular importance because the president has presented the package to the US legislature, but it is not at all clear whether it will be voted on.
Israel is a separate issue. We will propose an independent Israeli financing measure worth (more than) $14 billion
Johnson said about it.
