Speaking to local media, Riverside County Mayor Chad Bianco said:
We may have prevented another assassination attempt.
The police chief added that the counterfeit licenses were “different enough to concern deputies.”
Authorities say Miller is believed to be a member of a right-wing anti-government organization and may have planned to kill Trump. The suspect has a master's degree from the University of California and is running for Nevada State Assembly in 2022, the Riverside Press-Enterprise reported. According to police records, Miller was taken into custody for possession of a loaded, high-capacity firearm. The suspect was later released on $5,000 bail.
The incident once again highlights the security challenges faced by political events, especially for former presidents.
According to reports, the authorities continue to monitor potential threats with increased vigilance and are trying to prevent similar incidents. It must be remembered that this year, US authorities have already intercepted several planned assassination attempts against the former president. In July, a gunman managed to shoot Trump, but he survived the incident with minor injuries that did not exceed a millimeter.
