The document should have been issued by the FBI, but it was made public by one of Joe Biden’s political opponents, Republican Senator Chuck Grassley.
The documents relate to a 2020 investigation into the Biden family. According to the documents, a US FBI informant alleged that “the Bidens” (i.e. Joe Biden and/or his family) twice accepted $5 million in bribes from Mykola Zlochevsky, CEO of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.
The whistleblower doesn’t make it clear which exact Biden it is, but it does mention that
Five million went to Biden and the other to the other Biden.
The FBI has designated the informant as a “highly reliable” source of information, At the same time, CNN draws attention to the fact that, regardless of this, the information about the alleged corruption scheme has not yet been proven by official investigative materials.
Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, previously served on the board of directors of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma. The current President, Barack Obama, served as Vice President and visited Ukraine regularly.
The FBI issued a statement condemning Chuck Grassley’s release of the document, a move the agency said posed a “security risk”. At the same time, the informational content of the documents was not denied.
