Betelgeuse is very close from the cosmic point of view, 650 light-years away.
One, recently published Stady Accordingly, Betelgeuse may be destroyed in a few decades, writes A.S ScienceAlert. From a cosmic point of view, the star is very close, about 650 light years away.
Hideyuki Sayo, of Tohoku University and colleagues analyzed changes in the object’s brightness and found that the fluctuations may indicate the last stage of a star’s life. This has already been raised in previous investigations.
Giant red giants have been a major concern of researchers for years. The star darkened unexpectedly in 2019, and it has shown several fluctuations since then, and its brightness reached its peak this year. There have been several explanations for the light changes, with some experts even going so far as to say that an alien civilization’s technology might be affecting the object.
Due to the type of Betelgeuse, it leads a fast and intense life, and the star is only 10 million years old. The heavenly body is currently swollen and running out of materials for its nuclear fusion.
Based on the last publication, the years of the object are calculated.
If the models are correct, Betelgeuse could collapse into our lives, forming a supernova.
It should be noted that the new data has not yet been reviewed by independent experts. There are still many unanswered questions about Betelgeuse, so researchers will investigate them further.
