A place of mercy is being built on the banks of the Maros River in Maku, after more and more people asked to have their ashes scattered in the river.

At the local representative body meeting on Wednesday, following a proposal by local government representative Gabor Gerbus, the local council unanimously approved a proposal aimed at creating a new Place of Mercy. This new venue will be built at the foot of the Maros Bridge, along the road leading to the football stadium, and according to plans, could be completed by Easter 2024, he writes. Mako Sibus.

The reason behind this decision is that in recent years, more and more people have chosen to scatter the ashes of their loved ones in the Maros Islands, and commemorate them in the chapel on the camp site. In the current form of the commemoration, it appears that relatives will place memorial plaques, candlesticks and flowers at the foot of the bridge, next to the road leading to the MAK track.

Gerbus wrote in his proposal that the municipality was obligated to provide assistance in creating an orderly and dignified place for compassion. The project is planned to be funded from the 2024 budget, and the plans and budget could be finalized by the end of January. Works can begin after the budget is approved.

The members of the representative body accepted the idea with full approval, and only actress Zylvia Cermak was absent.
