On November 29, the series Morderczynie / Murderesses, produced by Budapest-based Paprika Studios, was added to the content available on Netflix in Poland. The miniseries became the most watched series in just 48 hours, thus becoming one of the most successful series of all time.
The six-part series was first added to Viaplay’s Polish lineup on October 27, where it jumped to first place almost immediately, and then almost exactly the same day repeated the same performance on Netflix.
At the heart of the series’ story is the mysterious disappearance of a high-ranking police officer, whose case is tried to solve by his daughter, Karolina (Maja Pankiewicz), a young policewoman with a loud voice and also ambition. Who trusts that by solving the case that affects her personally, you can not only ease her conscience, but also advance faster in the police hierarchy.
The series stars Maja Pankiewicz, Isabella Cunha, Elisa Recempel and Thomas Schuchardt. All episodes were directed by Christopher Ross and the screenplay was written by Viktor Petkowski with assistance from Joanna Kozlowski and Katarzyna Kaczmarek. The director and producer of the entire series was Christopher Ross, head of the Polish office of Paprika Studios, and the co-producer was Ákos Erdős, CEO of the Budapest-based company.
