A year ago, a Romanian truck driver weighed 184 kilograms and was consuming 10,000 calories a day. On a typical day, he would eat three chocolate-stuffed croissants for breakfast, chocolate during the day, and a hamburger, chips, and chicken wings for dinner.
“My girlfriend broke up with me because she couldn’t stand it anymore. I couldn’t look at myself either. I didn’t even have a mirror, so I didn’t really know how bad I looked,” Vlad told The Mirror UK portal.
“I was wearing pants made of elastic material, so I really had no idea how fat I was. My girlfriend didn’t leave because of my weight, but because of my lack of interest in myself and my lack of interest in myself,” adds the 33-year-old.
Before moving from Romania to England in 2010, the guy was athletic, strong and played football. His weight was 70 kg at that time. When he moved to Coventry, he gave up sports and began to spend his free time in front of the TV, eating fast food and sweets.
As a result, it “grown” to a size 4XL. He felt he needed to change when he needed medical attention because of his knee injury. When he called an ambulance, ambulances couldn’t get him out of the elevator because of his massive weight, the mirror writes.
I was very embarrassed and suffered from depression and anxiety.”
Then came the motivation to fight for yourself. In June, the man saw an advertisement for the local football team MAN v FAT. He joined the team and has since lost 90 pounds.
“I’m proud of myself now,” said the truck driver.
Vlad began to eat healthy food and completely abandoned his old habits. Now he only eats salads and grilled meat, and his daily menu does not exceed 2,100 calories.
I threw all the junk food out of my house. I started eating grilled fish and vegetables two or three times a day. It was great to be with a team that supported me so much in the football team. If I wanted to give up, I thought about the team and didn’t want to disappoint them. Whenever I had a bad moment when I wanted to order fast food, I would think of the team. I said, if not for myself, I would do it for them,” says the 33-year-old.
Vlad believes that the initiative, launched in 2015 to help men lose weight, has the best chance of a healthy life.
The man now weighs 88 kg but plans to lose 74 kg.
Vlad also reveals what he eats during the day:
- Breakfast: scrambled eggs with three eggs on toast, avocado and fruit
- Ten o’clock: Dark chocolate and puffed rice pudding.
- Lunch: grilled chicken, rice and salad.
- Dinner: roast beef and a large salad.
