After 25 years, the legendary Need for Speed: High Stakes can once again be supported in Unreal Engine 5.
06/20/2024 – Despite massive layoffs, we live in one of the most wonderful times in game development, where even a single talented creator full of ideas can create massive successes and masterpieces. Anyone can make anything using modern game development tools: Unreal Engine 5, for example, simplifies the creative process to an extent never seen before, and requires minimal programming and modeling skills, so even the most amateur can confidently start compiling the games.
Or they can even recreate classics of the era with it, such as Rayman 3, Diablo 2, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, Republic Commando or even Toy Story 2 on PS1, which is quite similar to the work of the novice developer under the stage name QuantumRez, who single-handedly dealt with The 1999 UE5 remake of Need for Speed: High Stakes.
The remake of NFS: High Stakes can be interesting to all fans, because with this part (the fourth in a row) the series began to move in a more realistic direction – for example, the cars are already damaged, but what is even more interesting about Remake: The original ported a lot of vehicles and tracks from the cult NFS III, which were also revamped. At least we hope, since the project is a solo project, there is an increased risk that it will never be completed. From here we also support QuantumRez, which pays homage to the childhoods of many with a modern version of the Snowy Ridge track in UE5.
