Pope Francis greeted before a general audience the second head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Bishop Anthony.
And remember Reuters that the head of the church may be questioned by journalists during his visit to Hungary on Sunday. In one of his answers, Pope Francis, when praising his role in bringing peace under the roof, said the following:
There is a mission, but it has not yet been announced. If it is posted, I will disclose it.
However, his words surprised both Kiev and Moscow, who said they were unaware of any planned papal peace mission.
The head of the Catholic Church said earlier that he wanted to visit both Kiev and Moscow in order to establish peace.
He indicated in an article by Reuters that Bishop Anthony met with a number of Vatican officials, but it was not revealed whether he also participated in a private meeting.
It should be remembered that the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, is a staunch supporter of Vladimir Putin. Previously, he made several statements about the validity of the attacks launched by Moscow, but he made several statements against the West.
